Connection for the future

NUCLEUS GmbH can look back on more than 50 years of company history. The family-run business has been building its experience in welding technology since it was founded in 1976 by Dr. Florian Tschech.

Starting with the development and construction of fully automated machines for the welded production of personal protective equipment in 1978, we are now a specialist in the development of high-quality ultrasonic welding machines made in Germany.

Through intensive research and further development of continuous ultrasonic welding technology with rotating sonotrodes, today we are a high-tech engineering company and also a software developer for ultrasonic welding machines.

With our current managing director, Marc Tschech, we are already in the second generation of the family business. Based in Düsseldorf, Germany, we are working on the future of ultrasonic welding technology. With a large number of qualified and well-trained employees, we still develop and manufacture our machines in Germany.

Through our long company history and good relationships with our customers, NUCLEUS has built a large network of business relations all over the world. We are constantly working on innovative, personalised and high-quality products to deliver the best products and service to our partners.

After moving to our new headquarters in 2019, we are ready for more challenging projects in the field of ultrasonic welding technology.

Our history

1976

NUCLEUS GmbH was founded in 1976 as an engineering company for nuclear process engineering in Düsseldorf, Germany, with its own workshops in Aachen, Germany, by Dr. Florian Tschech.

1978

Development and construction of fully automated production machines for the production of personal protective equipment (PPE, German “PSA”).

Establishment of our own production facility for disposable protective clothing. Patent registration for special production processes.

1982

Relocation of the workshops to Düsseldorf and start of the development of special welding processes for thermoplastic films and, above all, technical textiles and nonwovens. Several publications on special welding processes by Dr. Florian Tschech.

Development of a fully automatic production line for nonwoven overalls made in a combination of welding and bonding technology.

1988

Move to our own production and workshop premises at Gerresheimer Str. 99, Düsseldorf – administration, production and workshops are now combined in Düsseldorf.

Design and construction of smaller, special welding machines and welding tools with an innovative welding process for nonwovens up to 150 g/m².

1994

Set-up of a second production facility in Lublin, Poland, with around 60 employees for the production of protective clothing in conventional sewing technology combined with further developed welding technology.

Since 1994

Intensive research in the field of continuous ultrasonic welding technology with a rotating sonotrode.

Design and development of a new, modular ultrasonic welding machine with flexible attachments, presented for the first time at the Fakuma fair (1999) and the IMB fair (2000).

2001

Licence agreement with PFAFF Industrie Maschinen AG and distribution of our standard machine “Rotomat SN” as a Pfaff product called “Seamsonic 8310-01, 8310-02, 8310-03”.

Further development and modification of the proven ultrasonic welding technology through new control and automation techniques.

February 2006

30th anniversary: from engineering to high-tech machine building and software development for ultrasonic welding, with already 18 employees in Düsseldorf, Germany.

2007

Introduction of the first V4E ultrasonic welding machine with a touch screen, operated by our own in-house software. For the first time, the pressing unit is controlled by a specially developed servo motor.

2011

Start of the production of fully automatic tube welding machines with integrated, rotating sonotrodes.

2016

Launch of the new DX1 ultrasonic welding machine and end of production of the V4E ultrasonic welding machine. With the new DX1 series, the entire ultrasonic unit is developed and produced by NUCLEUS. Its components are the generator, the converter and the sonotrode.

2019

Completion of our new, modern office and production premises at Tichauer Weg 32 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Move to the new headquarters with now 25 employees.

2022

Expansion and restructuring of NUCLEUS:

  • “Nucleus Gesellschaft für nukleare Verfahrenstechnik GmbH” becomes “Nucleus PSA GmbH”. Nucleus PSA GmbH focuses exclusively on the original founding business and produces disposable protective clothing.
  • Foundation of “Nucleus Ultraschall GmbH” in Düsseldorf: development, production and sale of ultrasonic components, series and custom machines.
  • Foundation of “Nucleus Ultrasonics Inc.” in Atlanta, USA. As a subsidiary of Nucleus Ultraschall GmbH, the US-based company focuses on the sale and service of machines in America.
